To support phase i of the establishment of the broker academy. the broker academy aims to increase the number of trusted, local, culturally competent brokers in hartford, new haven, and bridgeport. phase i of the project will focus on: a) outreach to community-based organizations who will connect potential broker academy candidates to access health ct, b) recruitment of 5-7 broker agencies to serve as mentors to broker academy students via an apprenticeship model, and c) recruitment of 100 students to the broker academy. funding will cover personnel, facility rentals, materials, printing/copying, travel, and event fees/sponsorships associated with the proposed recruitment efforts. phase ii (not covered by the current proposal) will include in-person classes in preparation for the state broker exam and ahct certification, as well as the placement of students in 90-day apprenticeships in mentor broker organizations.
