The 1772 Foundation's mission is to ensure the safe passage of our historic buildings and farmland to future generations.
The Grants for Historic Properties Redevelopment Programs aim to support the establishment and expansion of historic properties redevelopment programs, or revolving funds, across the United States. These programs are designed to protect endangered historical properties by actively investing in real estate and applying preservation tools such as options, purchase/resale, easements, and tax credits. The key objective is to use historic preservation as a strategy for community redevelopment. The foundation offers grants for feasibility studies to help established preservation organizations explore the possibility of initiating their historic properties redevelopment programs. Additionally, it provides grants to enhance the capacity of existing programs, ensuring their continued success and sustainability. Proceeds from any property transactions are reinvested into the program to support ongoing preservation efforts.
