GAP/GHP Cost-Share Program

From Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries

The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries (ADAI) aims to support Alabama farmers by providing financial assistance for certifications that strengthen the safety and sustainability of agricultural practices.

    Type of Support

    Overview

The program offers a cost-share opportunity for Alabama farmers to offset the expenses associated with obtaining Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Good Handling Practices (GHP) certifications. It's designed to reimburse farmers for 75% of the certification cost, up to $500 annually, focusing on promoting safer and more sustainable farming practices. The reimbursement specifically covers the initial audit, contingent on the audit being performed by an approved GAP certifier. Funding is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis until exhausted, targeting specialty crops like fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, and horticulture and floriculture items.
