The Foundation protects Alaska’s natural environment and the diverse cultures and ways of life it sustains by promoting conservation philanthropy and strategically directing resources to conservation leaders, organizations, and initiatives.

    The Discovery Grants Program aims to foster a more effective and sustainable conservation movement in Alaska by supporting grassroots organizations. It focuses on strengthening the movement's leadership base, encouraging collaboration, and assisting leaders and organizations to adapt to changing political and economic environments. The grant awards support various activities, such as training for staff and board members, meeting facilitation, legal assistance, travel, conference fees, outreach and advocacy, strategic program expansion, and up to a 5% administrative fee. Applications are reviewed every two months, and the program encourages ongoing applications.
