The mission of the AASM Foundation is to lead the field in academic sleep medicine in terms of research and education, aiming to enhance sleep health for all through funding initiatives. The RLS Foundation focuses on improving care and seeking cures for those affected by Restless Legs Syndrome through research, education, and connecting communities.
The Sleep Champion Award, established by the AASM Foundation in 2019, recognizes non-profit organizations that excel in providing community-based sleep health services and education on a local, national, or worldwide scale. The award highlights the crucial role of non-profits in advancing sleep health through service provision, initiatives, community engagement, and advocacy. Recipients are granted $10,000 as unrestricted funds, encouraged to use part of these funds for educational and networking purposes at the annual meeting and other relevant events. Additionally, the award ensures a complimentary registration for a representative of the awarded organization to attend the annual meeting, facilitating further learning and connection opportunities within the sleep health community.
