The Wilbanks Prize focuses on recognizing individuals in the fields of Geography or GIScience who have contributed transformational research that notably impacts Geography, GIScience, or the intersection of Science and Society at large. It honors these contributions with a $2,000 cash prize and a statuette. Nominations are open to geographers across academic, public, and private sectors and can be considered for up to two consecutive years, with an opportunity to update the nomination package in the second year.
