    Overview

The AAAS Mani L. Bhaumik Award for Public Engagement with Science, previously known as the AAAS Award for Public Understanding of Science and Technology, acknowledges scientists and engineers who excel in contributing to public engagement with science. The award, established in 1987 and redefined with a new focus from 2019 under the endowment by Bhaumik, includes a $5,000 monetary prize, a commemorative plaque, and recognition at the AAAS Annual Meeting. It supports the principle that engaging with the public on science- and technology-related issues through dialogue and active participation is crucial for promoting understanding and exchanges between science and society.
