Grants for Laboratory Animal Science: Standard Grant

The GLAS program offers Standard Grants for research proposals that demonstrate solid preliminary data. The research interests include environmental conditions, housing and enrichment, pain and distress, health and welfare, euthanasia, and advancements in animal care and use. Proposals are evaluated based on their relevance to GLAS's mission, impact on laboratory animal science, hypothesis validity, methodological soundness, and the project's feasibility. Standard grants provide up to $50,000 for one-year research projects, with a possibility of renewal. While salary support is generally discouraged, it may be justified in certain requests. Funding can include up to $1,000 for travel to the AALAS National Meeting to present study results.
