The mission of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) focuses on advancing the science and practice of orthopaedic sports medicine through research, education, and patient care.
The grant aims to support basic science or clinical research projects that advance insights into meniscal or osteochondral allografts. It particularly focuses on viable Osteochondral Allograft (OCA) transplantation or meniscus allograft transplantation of the knee. The grant encourages projects that address clinical challenges in transplantation, improve allograft availability and quality, analyze cost-effectiveness, utilize contemporary technologies, investigate biological adjuncts for better incorporation, objective assessment of allograft biology, and the simplification of surgical techniques. A one-time award of $50,000 will be disbursed over 12 to 24 months to support these endeavors, with non-transplantable allograft tissue provided by JRF Ortho at no cost for the study. Applicants must be AOSSM members, and the investigative team must include at least one AOSSM member in good standing.
