The AASM Foundation is committed to developing the careers of sleep and circadian investigators by increasing support for sleep researchers. It does this by establishing research career development grants to assist sleep researchers at various stages of their career, aiming to sustain the field's growth and innovation.
The Bridge to Success Grant for Early Career Investigators by the AASM Foundation is designed to provide bridge funding to promising early career sleep and circadian scientists who have previously applied for career development grants (like a K-award from the NIH or an equivalent) but were not funded. The grant aims to support these investigators at a crucial point in their careers, ensuring they remain in the sleep research field. It offers up to $100,000 for one year, with no restrictions on expense distribution, although indirect costs are capped at 8%. This grant acts as a contract between the AASM Foundation and the grantee’s institution, providing necessary support for the revision and resubmission of promising applications in response to reviewer critiques.
