From American Society of Overseas Research (ASOR)

The mission of the American Society of Overseas Research (ASOR) is to initiate, encourage, and support research and public understanding of the history and cultures of the Near East and wider Mediterranean world, from the earliest times. ASOR aims to achieve its mission in a manner that is apolitical and without any religious affiliation.

    Overview

ASOR's grant program prioritizes funding archaeological projects and fellowships to facilitate participation in excavations in the Eastern Mediterranean. Since 2007, it has provided over $986,000 in support to 740 researchers and students. The program includes scholarships for fieldwork, research fellowships, and grants specifically for archaeological project directors. Additionally, ASOR administers mini-grants for cultural heritage projects in Libya, in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy to Libya and the U.S. Department of State, addressing needs stemming from the flooding crisis and operates donor-designated education and stewardship programs in North Africa and the Middle East with anticipated funding of more than $65,000 for the year.
