To promote the growth and development of plant biology, to encourage and publish research in plant biology, and to promote the interests, growth, and education of plant scientists in general.
The Excellence in Education Award, initiated in 1988 by the American Society of Plant Biologists, honors exceptional contributions in teaching, mentoring, and/or educational outreach within the realm of plant biology. It's an annual monetary award recognizing individuals (regardless of their membership in the Society) who have demonstrated excellence in teaching, leadership in curricular development, or the authorship of effective teaching materials in plant science.
