To promote the growth and development of plant biology, to encourage and publish research in plant biology, and to promote the interests, growth, and education of plant scientists in general.
The Charles Albert Shull Award, initiated in 1971, honors Dr. Charles A. Shull's contributions to the American Society of Plant Biologists. This monetary award recognizes outstanding plant biology research by a society member under forty-five years of age or within ten years of receiving their doctoral degree, considering career breaks for the age limit. The recipient is invited to address the Society at their annual meeting the following year, promoting research excellence and engagement within the plant science community.
