To encourage and foster the exchange of information and ideas among biomechanists working in different disciplines and fields of application, such as biological sciences, exercise and sports science, health sciences, ergonomics and human factors, and engineering and applied science. It aims to facilitate the development of biomechanics as a basic and applied science.
The Up and Comer Award, sponsored by the Asian American Institute for Research and Education (ASIAM) and the ASB Council of Fellows, focuses on fostering mentoring and networking opportunities for post-doctoral trainees and early career faculty in biomechanics. It aims to encourage diversity and inclusion within the field, giving preference to individuals from underrepresented groups and those at HBCU/minority-serving institutions. Award recipients receive $1,000 for travel to meet their ASB Fellow mentor and complimentary registration to the ASB Annual Meeting, with an anticipated three post-doctoral and three early career faculty awards.
