The mission is to foster and develop talented early career breast radiation oncology researchers who are members of the populations that are currently underrepresented in biomedical research.
The grant aims to support the research careers of residents and fellows interested in radiation oncology, embracing both newcomers and those further along in their careers. It focuses on broadening the scope of radiation oncology through basic, translational, and clinical research. The interest areas include the development of innovative techniques and equipment for better patient care, health care planning, outcomes evaluation, health education in radiation therapy sciences, understanding radiation effects on normal tissues, and insights into the pathogenesis of cancer cells within the tumor microenvironment.
