The APSF aims to enhance the safety of patients during anesthesia care by identifying and promoting safety initiatives, being a leading advocate for anesthesia patient safety globally, and supporting the growth of a safety culture and knowledge in anesthesia.
The Investigator Initiated Research (IIR) Grants program by APSF seeks to fund research projects that have a significant potential to improve patient safety and prevent mortality and morbidity due to anesthesia incidents. This encompasses a broad range of safety-related topics, including but not limited to the development of innovative education and training methods, the use of information technology, standardization of protocols, new clinical methods for prevention and early diagnosis of complications, evaluation of technologies, predictors of adverse outcomes, study of low-frequency events, cost-effectiveness of safety techniques, prevention of medication errors, and the implementation of safety solutions.
