The Architecture + Design Independent Projects grant program supports individuals and teams based in New York State to explore design topics through creation or research, with a focus on a broad range of design fields including architecture, landscape architecture, historic preservation, community-centered design, and more. For the 2023 cycle, 25 grants of $10,000 each will be awarded to proposals that showcase artistry and design excellence, contribute to a broader understanding of design, or advance a design discipline. Projects are expected to be critically centered on design and result in outcomes accessible to the public, such as design prototypes, new ideas in community design, research in design or architectural history, or critical/theoretical analysis.
