The mission of the Bainbridge Community Foundation (BCF) is to enrich Bainbridge Island by funding programs that address community needs. Through a community-based approach to grant-making, BCF engages community members in identifying and supporting local causes, ensuring resources are directed where they're most needed.
The Annual Community Grants Cycle forms the core of the Bainbridge Community Foundation's grant-making efforts. Starting in 2005, this grants program involves a rigorous process of application review, site visits, and priority setting by BCF staff and community volunteers. It supports nonprofits serving Bainbridge Islanders across various sectors including arts and culture, animal welfare, education, environment, health and human services, and recreation. The grant types offered include funding for specific programs or projects, capital needs (such as equipment or facility repairs, with estimates required at application), direct support (enhancing access for underserved populations), and general operating support, embodying a holistic approach to fostering community well-being and growth.
