In response to God's love as shown through Jesus Christ and honoring its Baptist heritage, Baptist Community Ministries (BCM) is dedicated to enhancing a healthy community in the five-parish Greater New Orleans area. It aims to achieve its vision through philanthropy, identifying and supporting organizations focused on health, education, public safety, and governmental oversight with grants and expertise; chaplaincy services, by providing pastoral care through trained chaplains; and congregational wellness, by promoting wellness ministries within congregations.
The Transom Grants, awarded biannually by Baptist Community Ministries, target programs within three primary areas: health, education, and public safety, to foster a wholesome community quality of life. These grants aim to create a healthy environment not just free from illness but promoting overall well-being, ensure learning opportunities for cognitive and emotional development essential for success in various life stages, and support a balanced crime prevention and management approach for a safer community. Eligibility for these grants requires a minimum request of $50,000 per year, without a specified maximum award amount. Projects can range from planning and existing programs to startups within the specified zones of interest, and the grant duration can be 1, 2, or 3 years.
