The mission of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation is to build stronger communities and improve the quality of life for all residents in the areas it serves. This involves supporting various charitable programs and endeavors, including the promotion of education, the arts, and community development.
The Lee Fund for Educational Enrichment grant program is designed to support projects that enrich the educational experience of students and teachers in Lee Public Schools. The grant seeks to fund a wide range of initiatives, including independent studies, new programs, extra-curricular activities, individual creative projects, visiting speakers, artists in residence, professional development for teachers, and the acquisition of scientific, athletic, or technical equipment, library resources, and field trips. It emphasizes projects that incorporate volunteer efforts and show additional support, aligning with the school's strategic goals. Additionally, the grant program supports local organizations’ efforts to integrate arts into education, as part of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation's Arts Build Community initiative and the C4 Initiative through MCLA, aiming to leverage the region’s rich cultural assets for educational and civic engagement purposes.
