The Birmingham Foundation is dedicated to supporting the South Pittsburgh community by focusing on the developmental needs of young children from birth to age eight and their families. This includes fostering maternal and child health, early care and education, and the well-being of parents and families to ensure a thriving, equitable future for all.
The grant program aims to support nonprofit organizations that align with the Foundation's three primary focus areas: Maternal and Child Health (Prenatal to 3), Early Care and Education (Birth to Age 8), and Parent and Family Wellbeing. It seeks to provide every child with a healthy start in life, access to quality early learning opportunities, and to support families in breaking cycles of poverty and inequity. This includes funding for initiatives such as pre and postnatal care, home visiting, developmental screenings, early intervention, workforce supports, access to quality and culturally responsive programs, kindergarten transition, family engagement, access to services, social connectedness, and leadership opportunities.
