The mission focuses on honoring America’s most innovative young faculty-rank scientists and engineers through the Blavatnik National Awards, aiming to celebrate their past achievements and future potential in their respective fields. This initiative is designed to support and spotlight the exemplary work of rising stars in science and engineering across the country.
The Blavatnik National Awards for Young Scientists aim to recognize and financially support the United States’ most promising young faculty-level scientists and engineers. The overarching goal is to celebrate their early-career accomplishments and the potential for future advances within the three disciplinary categories of Life Sciences, Physical Sciences & Engineering, and Chemical Sciences. Each year, three laureates, one from each category, will be awarded $250,000 as an unrestricted fund. Additionally, nominees will be acknowledged as Finalists. The nomination process is exclusive to a select group of U.S. institutions, including research universities, independent research institutes, academic medical centers, and government labs, with nominations also opened to past laureates and members of the program’s Scientific Advisory Council. The evaluation of nominees focuses on the quality, impact, novelty, and promise of their work and contributions to their fields.
