Aims to improve the lives of as many people as possible by creating lasting change in five key areas: arts and culture, education, environment, government innovation, and public health
The Asphalt Art Initiative grant program aims to fund visual art projects on roadways, pedestrian spaces, and public infrastructure to achieve several key objectives: improving street and pedestrian safety, revitalizing underutilized public spaces, and fostering collaboration and civic engagement within local communities. The program offers up to $25,000 to as many as 20 cities, along with technical support from Street Plans, a tactical urbanism firm. Ideal proposals will demonstrate potential for significant impact on traffic safety and neighborhood revitalization, a high likelihood of successful intervention, community benefits with active local engagement, project viability with strong support and realistic planning, and quality with visually appealing design considerations.
