The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation, established in 2000, focuses on systemic changes that address key drivers of health. With over $200 million invested in North Carolina, the Foundation supports organizations, government entities, and community partnerships, reflecting learned strategies over time. It aims to give voice to people at a local level and meet communities where they are.
This grant aims to empower nonprofit organizations with strong community ties to more effectively advocate for solutions addressing the root causes of food insecurity. Funding can be utilized for a variety of advocacy-related activities, including community listening sessions, strengthening communication efforts, engaging in relationship building, conducting community forums, advocating for policy changes, and providing leadership training. Recipients are offered up to $300,000 over three years to enhance their capacity for systemic change advocacy. Additionally, the Foundation offers support for technical assistance, conference attendance, and networking opportunities to enhance the effectiveness and impact of the grantee's work in improving access to healthy food.
