Book Trust Program

    From Book Trust

The mission of Book Trust is to transform lives by promoting literacy among young readers through book ownership. The organization acts as an equity game changer by ensuring all students have access to books and the agency to make their own choices about what they read. They aim to reach students annually with a significant number of books, fostering a love for reading and learning by making culturally relevant, reading-level appropriate titles accessible at no cost to families.

    Overview

The grant program, in collaboration with Scholastic, provides every student in a Book Trust classroom with the opportunity to select books from a customized catalog, tailored to be culturally relevant and appropriate for the reading level. This initiative emphasizes student choice in reading to motivate young readers, aiming to be an equity game changer by making books accessible to students nationwide, without imposing any financial burden on their families. Schools interested in becoming a part of this program must follow the application procedure, which involves completing an Interest Form for new schools or submitting an Application for schools that have previously shown interest. Successful applicants will join a national network of educators and school administrators dedicated to making book access universal for students.
