The mission focuses on addressing disparities in educational opportunities linked to race, ethnicity, and family income. The foundation aims to support initiatives that provide data and insights into effective strategies for closing these educational gaps, promoting equality, and enhancing academic achievements for children and youth from underserved communities.
The grant program seeks to fund evaluations of existing programs and research projects that can inform efforts to close educational opportunity gaps. It entails two main proposal types:
Existing Program Evaluation (EPE) proposals should evaluate the effectiveness of current programs aimed at improving cognitive and/or achievement outcomes for children up to 18 years old, specifically focusing on initiatives that could lessen educational disparities associated with race, ethnicity, and income. Proposals should aim to understand what works, for whom, under what conditions, explore the reasons behind program effects, and perform cost-benefit analyses.
Research Project (RP) proposals are expected to gather information that helps address educational disparities tied to race, ethnicity, and/or family income, emphasizing the development or provision of strategic approaches for tackling these issues.
The projects funded under this grant may span up to three years, offering an opportunity for thorough investigation and impactful outcomes.
