BrightFocus funds U.S. and international research aimed at enhancing understanding, prevention, and treatment of glaucoma and other diseases, having contributed over $35 million towards glaucoma research since 1978.
The Macular Degeneration Research Program by BrightFocus provides research grants to both U.S. domestic and international researchers working on pioneering research aimed at a deeper understanding, prevention, and treatment of age-related macular degeneration. The program is designed to encourage innovation and support for scientists from underrepresented groups in the field. Since its inception in 1999, the program has committed nearly $46 million in funding towards research into the causes, potential prevention methods, and treatments for macular degeneration, currently supporting 58 biomedical research projects.
