    Overview

The SALC Program, as part of the Strategic Growth Council’s Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) Program, offers Capacity and Project Development grants. These grants are designed to strengthen the abilities of organizations to develop projects for agricultural conservation acquisition. The specific objectives include building organizational and financial capacities, assisting applicants in developing agricultural conservation easement and fee acquisition projects for future funding rounds, and covering associated costs to help close projects where the acquisition is funded by an alternate source. These efforts aim to protect critical agricultural lands from development, ensuring sustainable food systems and supporting California's GHG emission reduction goals.
