The mission is to support library professionals in California by providing them with a practice-based professional development experience. This program is designed to foster more inclusive communities by offering welcoming experiences for immigrants.
The California Documentary Project (CDP) grants are targeted at film, audio, and digital media projects that document the many facets of California. Specifically, it focuses on supporting the research and development and production stages of such projects. The CDP grants encourage projects to incorporate the humanities in ways that provide context, depth, and perspective. The grant program is interested in projects that can engage broad audiences across multiple platforms like radio, television, online media, community events, classrooms, cultural centers, and film festivals. There are three types of grants: CDP NextGen Grants of up to $15,000 for new voices, Research and Development Grants of up to $10,000 for the initial stages, and Production Grants of up to $50,000 for projects closer to completion that involve humanities advisors to ensure depth in content.
