The grant program from the California Public Utilities Commission prioritizes enhancing broadband access and digital literacy in communities with low broadband penetration. This includes low-income areas, senior citizen communities, and those facing socioeconomic hurdles to broadband adoption. The program supports two main types of projects: Digital Literacy Projects, which aim to improve digital skills and public education about internet usage, and Broadband Access Projects, which focus on providing free broadband access in public spaces and increasing community outreach to bolster broadband adoption.
