California ReLeaf works to empower grassroots efforts and build strategic partnerships that preserve, protect, and enhance California’s urban and community forests.
The California Arbor Week Grant Program, sponsored by Edison International and managed by California ReLeaf, aims to fund urban forest projects in celebration of California Arbor Week. The grant focuses on engaging community-based organizations in Southern California Edison’s Service Area for tree-planting activities. It targets enhancing community engagement and education on the significance of trees for community health and climate change mitigation. The program encourages activities such as planting shade trees in underserved areas, community-oriented projects with a vision for addressing local issues through tree planting, and events with educational components about tree benefits and care. The grant supports projects that stimulate social bonding, cleaner air, and cooler temperatures. Funding ranges from $3,000 to $5,000, with 8-10 grants anticipated to be awarded.
