The Sperry S. and Ella Graber Packard Fund for Pueblo, established by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, aims to advocate for equitable opportunities and enhance the quality of life in Pueblo County. The foundation envisions a vibrant community where all youth and families have success pathways, ensuring a healthy and prosperous environment.
The Packard Fund for Pueblo grant focuses on supporting Children, Youth, and Families within Pueblo County, dedicating at least 70% of its annual grant funds to this area. The initiative seeks to ensure young children reach their developmental milestones and succeed in both school and life, create stable and supportive environments, and educate adults to effectively interact with and advocate for children. Priority funding areas include Childcare & Early Childhood Education; Behavioral & Mental Health; and Family Support & Education, emphasizing access, equity, trauma-informed approaches, and two-generation strategies. For youth, the grant supports programs that foster positive connections, emotional management skills, and informed decisions about relationships and sexual health, focusing on out-of-school time programming, mentoring, and mental health. The initiative also addresses family needs for safe housing, nutritious food, and self-sufficient wages through supportive projects in housing, food assistance, and employment and education opportunities.
