CDC works 24/7 to protect America from health, safety and security threats, both foreign and in the U.S.
The Medical Monitoring Project (MMP) is a surveillance initiative aimed at enhancing the understanding of the experiences and needs of adults diagnosed with HIV in the United States. The project is distinguished by its comprehensive collection of both clinical and behavioral information, representing the entire diagnosed HIV-positive population in the U.S. Data for the MMP are obtained through in-person or telephone interviews and a two-year medical chart review of participants. Its data, being both locally and nationally representative, supports prevention planning, policy development, healthcare delivery improvement, and advocacy efforts, specifically targeting disparities in care and service provision for those living with HIV.
