The Charles and Betty Degenstein Foundation, established by Charles B. Degenstein and his wife, Claire Elizabeth (“Betty”) Weis Degenstein in 1977, aims to improve the quality of life through support for organizations that demonstrate a clear purpose, well-defined programs, and competent leadership. It focuses on various areas including conservation and the environment, medicine and health care, social services, civic affairs and cultural activities, education, enhancement of local businesses, and beautification of towns.
The Degenstein Foundations collectively support qualified organizations through grants, with each foundation having its own criteria, guidelines, and application process. These grants are aimed at promoting conservation and the environment, medicine and healthcare, social services, civic affairs and cultural activities, education, enhancement of local businesses, and beautification of towns. Specifically, the Charles and Betty Degenstein Foundation targets 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organizations in the Snyder, Union, and Northumberland Counties, striving to encourage progress across these various sectors.
The Foundation views additional backing from the community and other financial contributors for a project or program positively.
