The Enid Community Foundation for Excellence, also known as the Cherokee Strip Community Foundation, aims to improve the quality of life for residents of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma. Established in 2000 and supported initially by a significant match from the Sisters of Mercy, the foundation has grown its assets and given extensively in grants to fulfill its mission.
The grant program of the Cherokee Strip Community Foundation is designed to support projects that offer practical solutions to community problems; promote volunteerism and citizen involvement; are otherwise unfunded; respond to changing or emerging needs; leverage additional funding or resources; show potential for future funding; encourage cooperation among nonprofits without duplicating services; and target both the prevention and assistance for community issues.
