Coalitions and Collaboratives Inc. (COCO), a Colorado-based nonprofit, focuses on accelerating fire adaptation concepts and reducing wildfire risks across the U.S. Their mission aims to support increased capacity and on-the-ground work to enhance community resilience, restore fire-adapted ecosystems, and create safer conditions for residents and firefighters.
The Action, Implementation, and Mitigation (AIM) Program, initiated by COCO, aims to support organizations working to advance wildfire risk reduction through a wide array of capacity-building activities. This includes funding for personnel, planning efforts, and wildfire risk reduction work on non-federal lands. The grant program supports projects that enhance the ability of communities to overcome barriers to effective wildfire mitigation, multiply mitigation efforts, achieve measurable outcomes, support equitable and inclusive mitigation programs, and endorse place-based solutions. Grants, ranging from $10,000 to $75,000 for a one-year contract period, are available to various projects across the country that align with broader community wildfire strategies and demonstrate coordination with federal partners on adjacent public lands. A 100% match from applicants is required, with both cash and in-kind contributions being acceptable.
