The mission of the Colorado Health Foundation is to improve the health of Coloradans. It operates on three cornerstones: serving Coloradans with less power, privilege, and income, especially prioritizing those of color; being informed by the community it aims to serve; and focusing all efforts towards creating health equity.
This grant program is designed to support Coloradans struggling with substance use and/or mental health challenges by providing access to non-clinical peer support services. Recognizing that treatment alone is insufficient, the funding opportunity seeks to enhance recovery through peer-led programs that offer support outside the conventional clinical setting. Focused on the community and purpose pillars of SAMHSA's model of recovery, the grant supports programs that help individuals with mental health and substance use challenges in various areas such as retention of employment, cultural and community engagement, educational pursuits, creative endeavors, and building peer networks.
