Colorado Parks and Wildlife aims to advance and balance outdoor recreation with conservation efforts across the state of Colorado. They focus on collaboration and networking to support their mission.
The Colorado Wildlife Habitat Program is an incentive-based, voluntary program aimed at achieving strategic wildlife conservation and public access goals across Colorado. The program offers funding opportunities for landowners interested in protecting vital wildlife habitats, granting wildlife-related recreational access to the public, or selling their property for conservation purposes. Conservation easements, public access easements, and sometimes fee title purchases are the primary tools used. While public access is not mandatory for conservation easements, projects providing limited or year-round access for wildlife-related recreation are eligible for additional compensation. The program prioritizes conservation and public access easements, ensuring the protection of Colorado’s natural resources and the availability of wildlife-related recreational opportunities.
