The Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut aims to foster an informed and engaged citizenry as fundamental to a healthy democracy. They focus on creating an inclusive space for all voices, particularly emphasizing communities of color and the youth, in efforts to enhance civic life and build a just and civil society.
The Norwich Youth Grants are dedicated to supporting youth development programs and services for economically and socially disadvantaged youth in Norwich. This initiative is aimed at bridging the service gap created by the closure of the YMCA of Southeastern CT in Norwich. The grants prioritize empowerment of youth through quality early childhood education, mentoring programs, access to mental and physical health programs, educational opportunities in various fields, and support for post-secondary education and job readiness. This program aligns with strategic priorities focused on empowering youth and addressing basic needs & rights, funded through the legacy gifts of Grace & Lewis Sears and Jeannette Frisbie.
