The mission of the community foundation’s revitalization initiative is to offer unique opportunities for community benefit organizations and residents to enact transformational change. This is achieved by collectively creating and improving community assets and infrastructure, aiming to realize the vision of a clean, safe, and productive Westmoreland County.
The Healthy Communities Grants, under the Comprehensive Community Investment Strategy by The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County, target the upliftment of vulnerable populations in Westmoreland County. The grant program aspires to address the root causes of poverty, enhance the quality of life for those living in poverty or near poverty levels, and support the development of community assets. The initiative emphasizes innovative solutions, collaborative efforts, and measurable impacts on the physical, social, environmental, and emotional well-being of individuals and families facing challenging circumstances. Specific areas of focus include programs aimed at improving the mobility of families living in poverty, supporting childcare for single mothers, assisting individuals with mental health and addiction issues, helping former inmates reintegrate into society, and addressing housing and food insecurity.
