The Neighborhood Fund, established with support from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, aims to equip metro Atlanta neighborhoods with the resources needed for community enhancement projects, leadership development among residents, and organizational growth for groups leading these initiatives. Over three decades, it has allocated approximately $3.2 million in grants and training to support civic engagement, cultural events, green spaces, youth opportunities, community safety, and more.
The grant program, as part of TogetherATL, focuses on cultivating equity, with a specific emphasis on racial equity, to foster a thriving region in Atlanta. This initiative is characterized by its community-informed grantmaking approach, emphasizing support for local communities and systemic change. It aims to listen to and work alongside community residents to develop bespoke strategies that address their unique needs, seeking to transform entrenched systems marked by exclusion and racism for a lasting positive impact. Additionally, the program offers Arts Emergency Funding to support the local arts and culture ecosystem. This funding aids arts organizations, artists, and small creative enterprises that are still recovering from the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, by providing $250,000 in emergency grants. These grants, intended for general operating support, aim to alleviate the financial hardships these organizations face, acknowledging the significant role the arts play in economic development, community building, and education across the Atlanta region.
