The Community Foundation of Southern Indiana aims to support and enhance the lives of residents in Southern Indiana through a variety of grants and programs. They focus on addressing community needs by funding projects and organizations that have a significant and positive impact on local development, health, education, and welfare.
The Foundation's Quality of Place – Pathways to Progress Grants concentrate on improving the quality of life for people who have the least access to safe, high-quality public spaces and amenities. This often includes individuals with low incomes, as well as those facing transportation, mobility, or physical and mental challenges. The grants specifically support projects that: enhance safety and accessibility to amenities like greenspaces and parks; improve environmental quality and sustainability; and promote physical activity to better health outcomes. Strategies to achieve these goals include creating safe, accessible routes to parks, improving park infrastructure for better connectivity and accessibility, offering engaging programs that encourage physical activity, ensuring parks have adequate safety features, activating underused spaces, and collaborating on initiatives aimed at enhancing public spaces and environmental quality.
