The mission of the Niagara Area Foundation (NAF) is to address the philanthropic void in Niagara County through charitable efforts. Established in 2000 by a collective of individuals from the private and nonprofit sectors, NAF aims to support and positively impact the community of Niagara County.
The grant program aims to support initiatives that align with one or more of four key community goals: achieving racial/ethnic equity, promoting economic mobility through education for residents in low-income households, stewarding environmental resources with an eye towards climate resilience, and promoting regional vibrancy through arts, culture, and architecture. Special consideration is given to solutions that bridge racial divides, enhance civic engagement and leadership in communities of color, improve educational outcomes for children and adults in poverty, protect and restore waterways, support environmentally focused organizations toward a racially inclusive agenda, increase access to arts instruction for low-income youth, advance racial equity through the arts, and restore historic buildings to promote cultural tourism. There is also special funding available for programs serving individuals with visual, speech, or hearing impairments, with a preference for projects aligning with the mentioned community goals.
