The Community Foundation of Lorain County aims to support non-profit organizations serving Lorain County through grants from over 400 endowment funds. Established in 1980, it strives to encourage philanthropy, including among young people with the Youth Fund started in 1998, which engages local students in philanthropic efforts to make a meaningful difference in their community.
The Service Learning Grants target Lorain County teachers of grades K-12, providing funding for projects that integrate community service with curriculum objectives. Projects should be designed for completion within the current academic year (September–June) and link charitable activities, like collecting food for the needy, with educational goals such as enhancing math skills or studying nutritional standards. This initiative supports the dual aims of aiding the community and enriching student learning through practical application.
