The Community Foundation aims to improve community well-being by providing grants that enhance a wide array of local programs. Through its competitive granting process, it supports various initiatives focusing on early childhood development, the safety of vulnerable children, and general community enhancement across arts, education, environment, health, human services, and youth development.
The Foundation is guided by the principle of strengthening and supporting the local community of DeKalb County by channeling philanthropic resources into responsive, collaborative local efforts. It supports nonprofit and public‑sector organizations serving DeKalb County, Illinois, particularly those addressing clearly defined unmet needs and enhancing quality of life across arts & culture, community development, education, environment/animal welfare, and health & human services.
