The Ramble Charitable Fund aims to improve the quality of life in designated Buncombe County communities through supporting education, economic development, health care, and other projects that promote community development.
The Learning Links program aims to boost students' enthusiasm for learning and increase their likelihood of staying in school until graduation. This is achieved by offering grants up to $800 to public schools for "hands-on" creative learning projects. The initiative supports projects that are well-defined, involve realistic plans and activities without the use of educational or technical jargon, and include a detailed and reasonable budget. Projects that engage parents or community volunteers, are led by a dedicated teacher or team, integrate curricula or involve various age groups, and can serve either a single classroom, grade level, or the entire school are particularly successful. Group projects can apply for funding with $800 available per teacher/classroom, without a maximum restriction on requests for the same project. The program emphasizes community participation and interdisciplinary approaches, with a preference for projects that have before and after components, and do not exclude any students. Compensation is available for external experts but not for teachers or staff.
