The Community Foundation of West Texas, initially established as the Lubbock Area Foundation in 1981, aims to serve the Texas South Plains area by providing a variety of philanthropic giving opportunities. It supports Bailey, Cochran, Crosby, Dickens, Floyd, Garza, Hale, Hockley, King, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, Motley, Terry, and Yoakum counties.
The E. Jay Matsler Trust for Historic Preservation grant program supports projects focused on the preservation and reuse of historic buildings and sites within Lubbock and Hale counties. This initiative targets projects that showcase the property’s historical significance, address threats to the property, preserve the historical integrity, and demonstrate organizational readiness to complete the project within a year. This endeavor is committed to protecting and conserving sites of historical significance, ensuring they remain vibrant civic, cultural, or economic hubs for communities.
