Digital Inclusion Fund sponsored by Google Fiber

The Digital Inclusion Fund, developed in partnership with Google Fiber and the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville in 2018, focuses on enhancing digital inclusion in Huntsville. Its primary aim is to provide financial support to entities dedicated to

1. Preparing students for technology-related careers,
2. Supporting workforce development, and
3. Teaching individuals to use information and communication technologies effectively.

The fund has identified priority areas based on community feedback, including:

• Education: Enhancing access to information and research.
• Job Training: Fostering workforce development.
• Economic Development: Stimulating job creation.
• Social Connection: Facilitating interpersonal connections.
• Healthcare: Improving access to health information and services.
• Digital Equity and Equitable Access: Ensuring fair access to digital resources.
• Digital Literacy: Improving skills to find, evaluate, create, and communicate information using digital technologies.

Targeted populations for these initiatives are:

• Low-income community members,
• Senior adults/elderly,
• Homeless individuals,
• People with disabilities,
• Adult learners,
• English language learners/new Americans,
• Foster children,
• Individuals or groups in need of workforce training.
