The Council for the Advancement of Science Writing is dedicated to improving the quality and quantity of science news reaching the public. It supports individuals in science writing through educational programs, grants, and fellowships. The Brinson Foundation aims to support educational, public health, and scientific research initiatives through philanthropy.
The Evert Clark/Seth Payne Award, on its 33rd year, is designed to acknowledge and support young science writers for their contributions in reporting and writing across any science field. The award aims to perpetuate the legacies of veteran journalists Ev Clark and Seth Payne by fostering the next generation of science journalists. The recipient of the award is recognized with $1,000 and covered expenses to attend the ScienceWriters2022 conference for the formal receipt of their award. This initiative reflects the commitment to mentorship and development that Clark and Payne demonstrated throughout their careers.
