The Dickinson Area Community Foundation's mission is to enhance the quality of life for all residents of Dickinson County, nearby Michigan and Wisconsin communities, and the Forest Park/Crystal Falls areas. It aims to lead by attracting resources, managing endowments, serving donors, and distributing funds to meet changing community needs, focusing on education, health and human services, arts and culture, environment, community, and economic development.
The grant program provides financial support to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations and entities affiliated with non-taxable organizations (such as schools, churches, cities) in or serving people in the Dickinson County and nearby Michigan and Wisconsin areas. The grants target diverse areas, including civic improvement projects specifically for Iron Mountain, Kingsford, and Breitung Township communities; health-related programs for youths and seniors; environmental conservation efforts; the fine and performing arts; primary physical healthcare, education, and other health services; homelessness prevention initiatives; food provision for the needy; and youth-related programs overseen by the Iron Mountain/Kingsford Youth Advisory Committee (YACs). Each of these areas has dedicated funds aiming to address specific community needs and support local development and welfare.
